Solar Incentives
Town of Mountain Village
Participation in our Solar Energy Incentive Program is easy! Offset a portion of your home energy use with solar arrays and receive a financial incentive when installation is complete. The Town of Mountain Village will be there to assist along the way.
Participants will receive a $2,500 rebate for installation. Additional funds will be available to deed-restricted properties for an additional $2,500, up to a $5,000 total rebate. Rebates are available on a first-come-first-serve basis until program funds are expended. More information can be found here.
Battery Storage
State Incentives
State Sales Tax Exemption: The State of Colorado does not charge sales tax for solar equipment.
Colorado Battery Storage Tax Credit
If you install a qualifying battery backup or energy storage system in your Colorado home, you may qualify for a Colorado state tax credit that can help lower the overall cost of your project.
Eligibility requirements apply, and tax benefits vary by individual situation. We recommend consulting your tax professional for details.

Local Incentives
3. San Miguel Power Association (SMPA) currently offers a rebate up to $300 for residential solar systems, $1,000 for commercial solar systems and up to $750 for battery system. More information can be found here.
REAP Grants
Rural Energy for America Program (REAP Grant) are powerful grants administered by the USDA that can pay for 50% of the project cost for energy efficient upgrades including the installation of solar. Agricultural producers and rural small business’s both qualify for this grant. If you own a business in Montrose, Delta, Ridgway, Ouray, Telluride, or Norwood you most likely qualify for this grant funding. More information can be found here.

The Colorado Residential Energy Upgrade (RENU) Loan is a statewide residential loan program sponsored by the Colorado Clean Energy Fund in partnership with Colorado-based credit unions. It makes home energy upgrades easy and affordable by offering low-cost, long-term financing for energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements. More information can be found here.
▪ RENU Loans Commercial
Colorado Clean Energy Fund commercial loans are available to borrowers in the affordable housing, industrial, agricultural, mu8niciple, and non-profit sectors. They are designed to address finance gaps for clean energy and energy efficiency improvements that result in reduced utility costs, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, increased electrification or electrification readiness, and increased renewable energy generation. ▪ C-PACE for Business Owners
Colorado C-PACE enables owners of eligible commercial and industrial buildings to finance up to 100% of energy efficiency, renewable energy and water conservation eligible improvements. Financing is provided by private capital providers at competitive rates with repayment terms up to 25 years. Learn more here.
